The drawing & living room rules on this page are paraphrased from primary Sanskrit sources: Mayamatam, Manasara, Samarangana Sutradhara (King Bhoja, 11th c.), Brihat Samhita ch. 53 (Varahamihira, 6th c.), and Vishvakarma Vastu Shastra. Each rule's references[] array on this page lists the specific text(s).

Are these rules absolute, or are remedies available?

Accepted Answer

No vastu rule is absolute — every dosha (defect) has a corresponding remedy ranked by severity, disruptiveness (renter vs structural), and cost tier. See /vastu/remedies for the 30-remedy library.

Question 5

What if I rent rather than own?

Accepted Answer

Most vastu remedies are non-disruptive (mirrors, plants, color paint, salt bowls, yantras) — applicable in rented homes without construction. The /vastu/remedies library lets you filter by "disruptive: false" to see renter-friendly options only.
